USERFLAG
++++++++
User Database Flags Controller
version 1.00 Compiled 02/13/93
a public domain Wildcat! 3.x SysOps' utility by Michael Conley.
[ requires BRUN40.EXE in the path ]
WHAT IT DOES:
-------------
USERFLAG sets or un-sets virtually all user flags globally for any group
of security levels. It is menu driven, and requires no switches on the
command line, and does not need a configuration file. The switches it
will alter are any combination of these:
Never Delete User Auto Quote on Reply
Available To Chat Clear Screen Before Msg
Enable Hot Keys Bell When User Logs In
User Locked Out Don't Show Private Mail
Use Color Menus Don't Show Deleted Mail
Ignore Time Limit No Tomcat NetMail Export
Running the program:
--------------------
USERFLAG is menu driven. It is necessary to bring down your Wildcat!
system before running the program because the records of any currently
online users will be locked and will cause an error.
IMPORTANT: REMEMBER to make a backup copy of your ALLUSERS.* files before
operating USERFLAG. The program reads and writes to your ALLUSERS.DAT
file, and while every precaution has been taken to avoid errors, the
possibility may still exist, and a current backup copy will make it
easier to restore normal operation.
Start USERFLAG from any directory. It will search the current directory,
as well as your DOS path, for MAKEWILD.DAT. From that file, it will
determine the configuration and location of your ALLUSERS.DAT file.
You'll be presented with a scrolling list of your active SECURITY LEVELS.
Choose the ones you want to alter by tagging them. Your arrow keys will
scroll through the list, and the [SPACE BAR] will toggle the tags.
Press [ENTER] when through selecting, and you'll be presented with a list
of flags which you may alter. Three conditions are possible ... SET,
CLEAR, and IGNORE. All flags default to the IGNORE condition (the field
is not tagged.) Scroll with the arrows to each field you wish to alter.
Cycle through the choices (SET, CLEAR, IGNORE) with the [SPACE BAR] for
each field.
Once you're satisfied with your selections, press [ENTER].
IMPORTANT: To exit without changes at this point, you may simply cycle
ALL fields to IGNORE and then press [ENTER] ... the program will detect
that there are NO changes to be made and will exit immediately.
PROBLEMS, SUGGESTIONS:
======================
USERFLAG is public domain. I don't seek or accept any donations for this or
any of my other Wildcat! utility programs, including TODAYBBS, FLOP, MSTAT,
USTAT, and others.
I welcome suggestions, and will try to help (no guarantees) if there are
problems.
You may contact me at The Charlatan's Cabin BBS (213) 654-7337. Mention
your Wildcat! registration number in the comment and you'll be upgraded to
membership without the usually required registration by mail.
You may also leave a message via CompuServe (70250,220).
Please, NO VOICE CALLS. This isn't meant to be unfriendly, but with
the price of public domain software these days ... I just can't afford
to be "on call." I WILL respond to your questions via my BBS or CompuServe,
or via the Mustang Software registered SysOp BBS.
